In memory of our father: Ph Dr. Lubos Agustin Hlavacek, CSc.



Born in Prague, Czech Republic, 1929 - 2007 Dr. Lubos Augustin Hlavacek, historian of art and aesthetics, the author of more than forty books on art, published a long line of articles, treatises and critics. Art and the world, dialog of shape, monograph: Josef Manes, Mikolas Ales, Maurice Utrillo, Bohumil Kubista, Jan Slavicek, Pablo Picasso, Albrecht Durer drawing of Ota Janecek and Ludmila Jirincova. Magazine study: Michelangelo drawings, cosmography Wenceslas Hollar, Apollinaire's art thinking, Marc Chagall, Henry Moore, Francis Bacon, Masaryk aesthetics, Karel Capek as a draftsman, draftsman as Goethe and art talent of Gunter Grasse. Doctor Augustin Hlavacek is the bearer of silver medal of Frantisek Palacky of Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. He was close friend of Kamila Lhoták, Švengsbír and Jiri Trnka and others artists. Dr. Lubos Hlavacek was in the end of fifties and early sixties the first art historian, who is dealt with the issue of art and film. In his book Immortal movie of 1961 reflect on the developmental context of cinema and the visual arts, and his inspiration for the possibilities of this branch. An art criticism directed his attention not only to issues of the Film design, scenography and costumes, but also comics and puppet movies. He was interested l also on the personality of Jiri Trnka, who’s considered from the outset as a distinguished representative of the Czech art and culture. He was for him a pioneer of animated films and an excellent illustrator, painter, sculptor and personal friend.
